Linfield manager David Healy has called on his side to be ready for a ‘pumped up’ Glentoran on Friday night, insisting The Oval outfit are genuine title contenders and will improve under new manager Warren Feeney as the season progresses.
The Blues enter the first Big Two derby of the campaign on top of the Premiership and eight points clear of the Glens who, after sitting first in the standings, have slipped in recent weeks to fifth.

For ex-Northern Ireland team-mates Healy and Feeney, it will be the first time they have crossed swords as managers. The highly anticipated derby will also see Feeney take on the club he once managed before moving on to coach Newport County, which led to Healy’s arrival and a period of dominance for the Blues.
“I’ve been good friends with Warren for well over 20 years. It will be a different experience for both of us but I’m looking forward to it,” Healy said.
“Warren is making his return to Windsor having previously been a manager at Linfield and I’m sure he and his players will be pumped up for the occasion and we will need to be ready for what we want to be doing on the night.
“When you go into a derby, form goes out the window. We have started the season pretty well and they are in and around the top with probably a lot of improvement to come
