Jordan Henderson has issued a defiant response to being booed by England fans following his Liverpool exit in the summer.

England boss Gareth Soutghate expressed his disdain at the boos for the midfielder, who was earning his 79th cap and captaining the side in the absence of Harry Kane. But Henderson had initially ignored them in an Instagram post following the win.
However, he was pressed on the issue by reporters at Wembley and initially claimed he did not understand the boos. "I don’t know . . . do you?," said Henderson.

"I give absolutely everything. I love playing for England, I have done for many years, that’s why I’m still here. I still want to play for England for as long as I possibly can. To lead the team out (against Australia) means an awful lot to me and my family."
