Everton suffered a tough defeat to Liverpool in a controversial Merseyside derby on Saturday.
The Blues were forced to battle with 10 men after Ashley Young’s two yellow cards but did well to limit Liverpool’s chances at Anfield. That was until Mohamed Salah’s penalty, 15 minutes from time, with the forward doubling his tally in added time.
However, the game could have played out differently if referee Craig Pawson had opted to show Ibrahima Konate a red card, just after hour mark. Given Young’s earlier sending off, it was a decision that sparked frustrated reactions from both Everton manager Sean Dyche and captain James Tarkowski.
