Curtis Jones has been in fine form for Liverpool so far this season - and it has raised the prospect of an England call-up for the Scouse midfielder.
His ambitions were dealt a blow by the red card in the recent defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur. Jones, however, is free to return to Europa League action tomorrow night against Toulouse.
And he is confident that should he reach the same level he hit at the beginning of the campaign, he could be part of Gareth Southgate’s plans for the summer of 2024.

Jones said: “100%. If you are playing well then you deserve a chance. I don’t look that far ahead. I just know I’m playing games here and if I’m playing well and scoring goals then I’m giving myself a chance.”
Jones puts his impressive early season displays down to the end of his last term with Liverpool and U21 Euros success in the summer of 2023, as he was crucial to the England side that won the competition in Georgia against Spain.
He said: “Yes, 100%. [The England experience] helped loads. The coaching staff there and the players helped me.
“But it was more the run at the end of the season that I had [at Liverpool]. I came into the team and scored goals; I was assisting. I played something like 12 games. I came in and had a buzz about me, and the staff and the players knew that and I had confidence.
“I went in there [at the Euros] as myself and was fortunate enough to make the team of the tournament and scored the winning goal, apparently! It was a good tournament, so I was carrying on that [end of season] form.”
