Jurgen Klopp fears Andy Robertson will be sidelined for three months after the shoulder injury he sustained on international duty.
Robertson suffered the injury to his right shoulder in the first half of Scotland's 2-0 defeat to Spain last Thursday when he tried to challenge goalkeeper Unai Simon.
The Scotland captain will miss Saturday's Merseyside derby and will need surgery to correct an issue that Klopp believes could see him on the shelf until well into the New Year, which could see Robertson miss at least 17 matches if the timeline proves to be accurate.
"Do I have a rough timeline? Not really," Klopp said. "But in my experience you only see the real extent of the injury when they look in it, properly open and fix [the shoulder]. But around three months. That's the timeline for a shoulder [injury] usually.
