A celebrated Wirral artist is showcasing her work on home ground later this month.
The selection of acrylic canvasses by Leanne Hughes from Wallasey is on show at New Brighton's Oakland Gallery from Friday 20 to Sunday 29 October.
Graduating from University of Chester in 2015 with a BA Hons degree in fine art, Leanne has developed a reputation in the field of flowers and nature art, becoming a well spoken name among collectors around the world. Her abstract floral paintings have caught the eye of many avid consumers and her work has sometimes sold for thousands of pounds.

The mum-of-two, now 43, told the Liverpool ECHO: “I was always drawing and making things, and this need to be creative from when I was old enough to hold a pencil has never left me."
Leanne attended St Mary’s Catholic College in Wallasey but like many artistic kids, traditional schooling wasn’t always the most appealing affair. She said: "I was a rebel. I used to cause trouble, which often ended with me being chased by my teachers and having to hide. Art, English and drama, anything creative, were the only subjects I really enjoyed.”
It would take a while for Leanne to enter the art profession. After school she took jobs working in takeaways then at around 20 years old, and with no one to look after her young child, Clayton, during the day, she took a job working nights, caring for victims of dementia.
She said: “I really admire people working in care, it’s a hard job, but I was just so tired of working nights for so many years.”
