Liverpool and Everton discover Conti Cup fixture details as Merseyside derby date confirmed

Liverpool and Everton will contest two Women's Merseyside derby's in the space of six weeks, with the date of their Continental Tyres League Cup fixture having now been confirmed by the FA.

Matt Beard's side are already slated to host the Blues in the Women's Super League at Anfield on October 15, and the two sides will face off again on November 22. Both Liverpool and Everton have been drawn in group B for this season's Conti Cup and will need to fend off stern competition from a host of WSL opponents if they are to reach the knockout stages.

In addition to the Merseyside derby - which will take place at Prenton Park - Liverpool will take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on October 11 and Manchester City at the Academy Stadium on January 24. Everton, meanwhile, will host Manchester City at Walton Hall Park on October 11 and Leicester City on January 24. All games will kick off at 7pm.

Both Liverpool and Everton will be looking to improve on last season's showing in the Conti Cup. Everton failed to make it out of their group while the Reds were beaten by West Ham United at the quarter-final stage.

Only the first place team in each of the five groups - split into a Northern and Southern section - will qualify for the last-eight this season. They will then be joined by WSL champions Chelsea at the quarter-final stage, as well as Arsenal and Manchester United, should they progress beyond Rounds 1 or 2 in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Arsenal are the current champions, having triumphed over Chelsea in the Final at Selhurst Park in March.
