Liverpool have signed a contract with construction company Raynor Rowen to allow for the Anfield Road End redevelopment project to press ahead.
Following the collapse of Buckingham Group into administration earlier this week, with the firm having ceased trading as of August 17 after encountering insurmountable financial difficulties that halted all the company’s project, Liverpool legally took control of the site and immediately set about securing a replacement company and subcontractors to limit the impact of the delay.
Following talks, Liverpool have engaged Preston-based firm Raynor Rowen, who had previously worked with the club on the £500,000 Kop Fan Bar refurbishment project in 2018, as well as a number of other subcontractors to complete the £80m project, which will see the capacity raised by 7,000 to 61,000.
Some workers have already returned to site this week and Raynor Rowen will now assess the construction programme and work towards a revised time frame.
A club statement read: “Work will begin now to fully assess the construction programme and Rayner Rowen will work swiftly with our internal team to produce a revised project completion programme which will give us certainty on capacity and phasing.
“We will update on this revised completion programme as quickly as possible. In the meantime some workers have returned to the site to continue some immediate work.”
