Brighton jokingly have a ploy to make sure Kaoru Mitoma beats Liverpool's Luis Diaz and others to the Premier League's August Goal of the Month award.
The Japan international, who was also recently linked with the Reds, was the scorer of one of eight top-flight goals last month to be shortlisted for the competition's monthly prize. In the Seagulls' game away to Wolves on August 19, he cut inside from the left byline, ran almost the entire length of the opposition's half before opening up his body to curl into the bottom right corner from close range.
Coincidentally, earlier that same afternoon Diaz had put away the strike that would also see him make the eight-man shortlist. This was against Bournemouth, when the Colombian equalised midway through the first half with an acrobatic volley on the way to an eventual 3-1 Liverpool victory.
The other candidates for the award are Bukayo Saka, Jarrod Bowen, Alexander Isak, Gustavo Hamer, Raheem Sterling and Kevin Schade.

As is always the case, the Premier League have put the goals down to a public vote, however Brighton have cheekily kickstarted a plot that would see their star attacker pip Diaz and the rest.
Taking to social media, they claimed Mitoma has a fondness for multi-award winning US artist Taylor Swift's music whilst reminding people the vote remains open.
Whether he is in fact a fan of Swift's music is immaterial, but this Tweet acts as a niche reference to the singer's fans hijacking the public vote for football's Golden Boy award last week.
