Micah Richards fired a hilarious dig at fellow pundit Jamie Carragher during CBS Sports’ live coverage of Tuesday’s Champions League matches.
Richards joined Carragher, Thierry Henry and host Kate Abdo in kicking off another season of European action with plenty of humorous moments expected along the way.
And it didn’t take long for the banter to begin as Richards made a beeline for the former Liverpool defender during the broadcast.
With Richards casting his expert eye on former club Manchester City and Henry anticipating Arsenal’s return to the Champions League on Wednesday night, Richards was able to use Liverpool's failure to qualify for the competition as ammunition.
“Can I just make a reference?” Richards cunningly asked the row of pundits before honing in on Liverpool legend Carragher.
“We've been on air for five hours and we've not actually referenced that you should be doing Thursday nights.”
Carragher quickly hit back: “I'll do Thursdays if you do Wednesdays,” before they both burst into fits of laughter.
Liverpool’s underwhelming 2022/23 season saw them finish fifth in the Premier League therefore missing out on Champions League, despite contesting the final just two years ago.
Jurgen Klopp’s side face the challenge of the Europa League hoping to go one better that last time after losing the final to Sevilla in 2016.
The Reds travel to Austrian outfit LASK on Thursday before upcoming games with group rivals Union Saint-Gilloise or Belgium and French side Toulouse.
«How have we not referenced that you should be doing Thursday nights??»
It came down to the wire, but @MicahRichards
