Bobby Clark was the standout as Liverpool ended their long wait for a first-ever victory in the EFL Trophy in emphatic fashion.
Clark scored the second goal as the Reds under-21 side earned an impressive 3-0 win against League Two side Morecambe at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium on Tuesday evening in their group opener.

And while a fine first-half laid the foundation for their excellent showing, the young Reds needed two smart saves by Marcelo Pitaluga from Charlie Brown to prevent Morecambe going ahead before striking first on 13 minutes.
Frauendorf, a willing runner in attack all evening, did well to chase and maintain possession on the left flank and fed inside the area to Musialowski, who eventually got a shot away that took a huge deflection and looped in over Adam Smith in the Morecambe goal.
The lead was doubled on 28 minutes with another well-worked move with Frauendorf again the provider, this time popping up on the right flank and reaching the touchline before his pullback into the box evaded the sliding defender and fell into the path of Scanlon to control and then score.
Liverpool had a narrow escape shortly afterwards when a cross from the left was headed by Brown on to the inside of the post before being hacked clear by Chambers.
