Jamie Redknapp has insisted that Tottenham 'didn't deserve' to beat Liverpool in Saturday's controversial evening kick off.
Spurs came out 2-1 winners from a thrilling game in North London, benefitting from a late stoppage time Joel Matip own goal with the Reds down to nine men following two red cards.
Curtis Jones was sent off in the first half after a VAR review for a high challenge on Yves Bissouma, before Diogo Jota was shown two quick yellow cards with 20 minutes remaining.
Liverpool almost held out, and even saw a goal ruled out for offside despite goal scorer Luis Diaz clearly being onside - PGMOL have since apologised to Liverpool.
But it was Tottenham who took the three points from the game to move up to second in the Premier League, ending Liverpool's unbeaten run - but Redknapp, speaking on Sky Sports, insisted they were fortunate to do so.
'I don’t think spurs deserved to win today, I have to be honest,' he said. 'I thought they had a lot of luck, a few VAR decisions went their way, but they have got this lovely habit right now of scoring last minute winners.
'They did it against Sheffield United, they’ve done it again today, there’s a bit of belief, there’s a lot of confidence. I think they struggled to break down Liverpool towards the end of that game and it was a cruel, cruel moment for Joel Matip, but that’s football sometimes.
'[It was] A big three points for Spurs. Ange Postecoglou will believe right now that he can do no wrong.'
Liverpool tightened up at the back after they lost two players, taking off all attackers towards the end of the game and ending up with five defenders and three midfielders on the pitch.
