The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) have acknowledged a "significant human error" occurred in the ruling out of Luis Diaz's goal for Liverpool against Tottenham Hotspur.
Just moments after the Reds went down to 10 men, following Curtis Jones' red card for a challenge on Yves Bissouma. Diaz finished with aplomb as he raced in behind the Spurs defence before beating Guglielmo Vicario.
The assistant referee's flag was immediately raised to chalk off the Colombian's opener but it was referred to the Video Assistant Referee. However, during the broadcast of the Premier League encounter, no lines were drawn to show Diaz straying offside despite the winger appearing to be onside.

Spurs went on to take the lead through Heung-min Son but the Reds pulled themselves level through Cody Gakpo.
Another red card for Jurgen Klopp's side was brandished after Diogo Jota's second bookable offence. Liverpool were forced to weather the storm from the North London club for 20 minutes and were headed for a valiant point until Joel Matip fired into Alisson's goal.
Just over 40 minutes after the full-time whistle, the PGMOL released a statement acknowledging that there was a mistake in their decision to rule out Liverpool's opener.
"PGMOL acknowledge a significant human error occurred during the first half of Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool," it read.
"The goal by Luiz Diaz was disallowed for offside by the on-field team of match officials. This was a clear and obvious factual error and should have resulted in the goal being awarded through VAR intervention,
