The Wizard of Oz returns to the Liverpool Empire this Christmas and two of its stars have been announced.
The new musical, based on the famous story by L. Frank Baum, opens its UK and Ireland tour at the venue following a celebrated run at the world-famous London Palladium. It will be playing an extended festive season from Tuesday, December 13 to Sunday, January 7, 2024.
Today, Michael Harrison and the Really Useful Group announced that JLS star Aston Merrygold and Liverpool's RuPaul's Drag Race UK winner and Dancing on Ice finalist, The Vivienne, will play leading roles in the popular show.

Aston Merrygold rose to fame during his time on the X Factor with band JLS and has had many number one hits. While the band has taken a seven-year break, Aston's career is making strides having appeared on the West End and Strictly Come Dancing.
After JLS made their comeback last year, Aston Merrygold will appear in the Wizard of Oz as the Tin Man. Aston said: "Liverpool is such a special place to me and my family, it was only a year ago that I got married there.
"The Wizard of Oz is such an iconic story with such timeless characters and audiences of any age will delight in this new production full of laughter, excitement and a lot of colour. I can’t wait to return to the city for a fantastic festive season this Christmas as The Tin Man, it’s going to be incredible."
Liverpool's RuPaul's Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne, made history as the first drag star to appear on a major UK reality competition series and fans will get to enjoy a special performance as Viv is set to play the Wicked Witch of The West.
