Consequently, the international break came at both a good and bad time for Jurgen Klopp’s side. On one hand, it has halted momentum, but on the other it has granted a two-week window for absent players to step up their returns from injury without missing further games, and for new signings to acclimatise further to their new surroundings.
Liverpool’s trip to Wolves is the first of a seven-game run taking us through to the next international break in October. As part of such a stretch of fixtures, the Reds take on three of the Premier League’s current top six, while also kicking off both their Europa League and League Cup campaigns.
