Evan Ferguson is the talk of the Premier League at the moment after the 18-year-old fired home a memorable hat-trick in Brighton’s 3-0 win over Newcastle United last weekend.
The striker joined the Seagulls from Bohemians of Ireland in January 2021, rejecting interest from Liverpool in the process. Making his professional debut in August 2021, he has scored 14 goals in 33 appearances for Brighton to date, and also netted his first senior international goals for Republic of Ireland earlier this year.
Despite still being a teenager, Ferguson has already been tipped to become the next Brighton player to complete a big-money move elsewhere, following in the footsteps of the likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Moises Caicedo and Ben White.
Consequently, much is expected of the forward, with him already living up the hype that had seen the Reds try to sign him in the first place when he was still only 16.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Ferguson has been well documented in the past, with the player previously explaining his decision to snub the Reds’ advances too.
“I went to Liverpool a few times,” Ferguson told The Athletic in June 2022. “It’s a good club, but you see so many boys at Liverpool just fading away and there’s no chance to get in the first team.
“I was thinking, ‘Do I just want to play two years of under-18s and then go to the 23s and go from there to where?’ Brighton is a good club. The people working around are always there to help.”
