Hello and welcome to our Liverpool FC live blog for Friday, September 8.
Thursday night saw the closure of transfer window for Saudi Pro League clubs. Reigning champions Al-Ittihad lodged a late bid for Mohamed Salah on the eve of the shutting of the market for Liverpool, however their verbal offer was rejected by the Reds.
In the week that has followed, there has been a looming possibility of a further bid from Nuno Espirito Santo's side but Jurgen Klopp's side remained firm throughout insisting the 31-year-old wasn't for sale. In the latest twist, it has been claimed deal makers will be back in 2024 with Al-Hilal a team to "watch".
Selected Liverpool players are around the world competing for their international teams. Cody Gakpo scored his first goal of the season in a commanding win for Holland over Kostas Tsimikas' Greece.
Meanwhile, Paul Scholes left Liverpool fans pleased with an admission over iconic midfielder Steven Gerrard.
