Quansah can’t escape transfer question
Reaction to Jarell Quansah being named in a Liverpool starting line-up for the first time was dependent on the overriding point of view.
For some, it was an example of how Jurgen Klopp remains willing to give youth an opportunity and evidence of the good work that continues to be done at the Academy.
However, for others the sight of the 20-year-old lining up alongside Joel Matip just five games into the Premier League season was a sign of how the Reds should have bought a senior centre-back during the summer.

Regardless, Quansah has merited his inclusion for his progress at Kirkby, a solid loan spell at Bristol Rovers in League One earlier this year, encouraging showings in pre-season and confident cameos from the bench in the recent wins against Newcastle United and Aston Villa.
And Klopp was right to have no qualms turning to Quansah, who was far more assured than his more experienced defensive colleagues during a desperately bad rearguard effort in the first half.
Instead, the concern was Matip who, as at Molineux in February, was all over the place. Credit, though, to the Cameroonian who improved second half, along with the team as a whole.
After the final whistle, the banned Virgil van Dijk, stand on the touchline and hugging every player, reserved a special embrace for Quansah. Certainly, this won’t be the last we see the youngster this season.
