Liverpool confirm major Anfield change for 2024/25 season as new look nears completion

Liverpool have confirmed the entirety of the Kop will be converted into rail seating for next season as the new-look Anfield nears completion.

The Reds have undertaken a phased installation of rail seating in the stand following a successful trial of the initiative in both the Kop and the lower tier of the Anfield Road stand.

The initial test run saw 7,800 rail seats installed on the Kop and the lower tier of the Anfield Road in 2021/22 before a second phase added a further 2,500 rail seats to the Kop during the winter World Cup in 2022, which saw the Reds go without a home game between November 12 and December 30. A further 3,000 were introduced on the Kop last season.

Liverpool were then granted a Safe Standing Licence at the start of the current campaign, leading to safe standing areas within parts of the stadium that have rail seating and thus allowing supporters to stand during matches.

Now the remainder of the Kop will have rail seats installed, with the final work being undertaken in the summer and expected to continue throughout the first home games of next season. The club have reassured supporters access to seats will not be affected during that period.

Anfield has undergone a period of change in recent years with the majority of the £80million Anfield Road stand redevelopment having now been completed, leading to more than 60,000 being present for the recent home league games against Brighton and Sheffield United.

Work on joining up the corners of the stand with the Main Stand and the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand is expected to be undertaken
