Liverpool in talks to sell striker as young star accepts contract offer
Liverpool are holding talks with Preston North End over the sale of striker Layton Stewart.
Championship side Preston have pinpointed the 20-year-old Stewart as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
The clubs are in discussions over a permanent deal, although a loan move remains a possibility.
As a consequence, Stewart didn’t travel with the under-21s for their friendly at Kidderminster Harriers on Friday.

The Scouse striker, who has been at the Academy since the age of seven, missed more than a year with a serious knee injury earlier in his development, and made his first-team breakthrough under Jurgen Klopp last season when starting the League Cup tie against Derby County at Anfield.
He also travelled with the senior squad for their training camp in Dubai last December.
Preston are managed by former Liverpool youth player Ryan Lowe, who has already taken Reds right-back Calvin Ramsay on loan for the forthcoming campaign.
Meanwhile, Academy forward Paul Glatzel has accepted Liverpool’s offer of a new contract.
