Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has hit out at Marcus Rashford for his performance against Chelsea in their Premier League clash on Thursday evening.
Fowler criticised the 26-year-old failing to 'recognise the danger' and 'not even looking' before Cole Palmer's last-gasp winner in Chelsea's 4-3 victory.
Fowler also slammed the squad as a whole for switching off when Chelsea were awarded the corner in extra time, claiming it's a 'trait of the modern game'.
He said the Red Devils are reliant on their coaches to tell them what to do and that they need leaders within the squad if they are going to succeed.
After watching Palmer's winner back in the SunSport studio, Fowler said: 'Players can't really think for themselves at that particular time.'
He went on to add: 'They're waiting for someone maybe on the side, the manager or coaches, to make the decision for them.
'That moment [Chelsea's corner in the 90+11 minute of the game] was screaming for someone [from the United team] to take charge.
'You've got the captain of Manchester United [Bruno Fernandes] who is on the front post and he probably can't get out, but he can make more of an effort to get out there and close the space down for Cole Palmer to shoot.
'But I think it's in keeping with Manchester United. They have lacked leaders this season and that is a classic example of Manchester United.'
Fowler felt Rashford was responsible for Palmer's final goal - claiming he wasn't even looking as Enzo Fernandez found the 21-year-old on the edge of the box.
The Blues pulled off a sensational injury-time comeback to beat Manchester United 4-3 in their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
The Red Devils had gone behind within four minutes as Chelsea raced to a 2-0
