Liverpool to 'demand big transfer fee' for forward making big impression

Fabio Carvalho has hinted he could leave Liverpool in the summer despite a new manager taking over at Anfield.

The forward agreed to join the Reds in a compensation deal worth an initial £5m from Fulham in May 2022. However, after a bright start, he ultimately found his opportunities limited under Jurgen Klopp.

Only eight of his 21 appearances last season came from the start, with only four of his outings coming in 2023. But despite signing for RB Leipzig on loan as a result last June, his fortunes did not improve in Germany.

Starting just three of his 15 appearances for the club, Liverpool cancelled the temporary move in December before loaning the 21-year-old to Championship side Hull City for the rest of the season.

Carvalho is at least impressing the second tier, starting all nine of his appearances since joining the club and scoring three goals. Such exploits are helping maintain Hull’s unlikely promotion charge, with the Tigers currently sixth in the table - occupying the final play-off berth.

Given his fortunes since joining Liverpool, the forward perhaps faces an unclear future at Anfield when he returns to the club in the summer. And with Klopp confirmed to be stepping down as Reds manager at the end of the season, that only adds to the uncertainty regarding Carvalho’s situation.
