Luke Littler says it is 'crazy' that he received messages of support from footballers at his beloved Manchester United during his run to the World Darts Championship final.
The 16-year-old from Warrington has been the star of Alexandra Palace over the past two weeks. He was just one victory away from making one of the biggest sports stories ever by becoming the youngest darts world champion.
But Littler fell at the final hurdle and was left in tears as Luke Humphries demonstrated why he's the new world number one with a brilliant 7-4 win, lifting the Sid Waddell trophy for the first time. Since the tournament started on December 15, Littler has gained many followers on social media and won himself a tidy £200,000.

Littler revealed ahead of the final that United defenders Jonny Evans and Luke Shaw, as well as former centre-back Rio Ferdinand and ex-captain Gary Neville all sent messages of encouragement to him ahead of facing Humphries, much to the youngster's surprise. Littler has now revealed that Phil Jones also messaged him ahead of the final.
And, speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the teenager revealed he is thrilled to have had the backing of so many Manchester United players past and present. He said: "It's crazy to think so many people follow me, especially the footballers of my club. Luke Shaw, Jonny Evans and Phil Jones have sent me messages so it's unbelievable.
"It's been crazy. I was watching them on the TV and now they watch me on the TV as well so it's crazy that they're watching me.
