Olympique Lyonnais will play Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in a pre-season friendly this summer, the club have confirmed. The game will take place on Saturday 5th August, with kick-off at 18:30 local time.
This will be the first meeting of the clubs since Lyon were brought into the ownership of Eagle Football Group, owned by John Textor. Crystal Palace are part-owned by Eagle Football Group, whereas Textor is now the majority shareholder of OL Groupe after he replaced Jean-Michel Aulas as OL’s president.
The Ligue 1 side will also play fellow Eagle Football-owned club RWD Molenbeek in pre-season ahead of the start of the 2023/24 season. Lyon’s first game of the upcoming domestic campaign will be a trip to Strasbourg. Despite the DCNG monitoring Les Gones’ transfer business, Lyon have already bolstered Laurent Blanc’s squad in the summer window – confirming the arrivals of Skelly Alvero from Sochaux and Clinton Mata from Club Brugge.
