Man United boss Erik ten Hag demands Fulham apology over Bruno Fernandes social media post

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has asked Fulham to apologise for a social media post making light of a recent injury sustained by Bruno Fernandes.

During a pre-match press conference ahead of the match against Manchester City, Ten Hag criticised a TikTok posted by Fulham, where Fernandes seems to feign an injury during their recent Premier League game. The caption on this video read: «So glad he's ok..»

Clearly upset by this, Ten Hag responded: «I didn't know this, but if they did it I would say it is not right.»

«It is absolutely not right that a club makes such a statement, because it is totally out of order and they were wrong so they should apologise for this.»

Ten Hag also expressed his belief that Nottingham Forest, their opposition on Wednesday night, was specifically targeting Fernandes. He said: «He is a very passionate football player and he's a very creative one, he has created the most chances in the Premier League.»

«You see opponents are targeting him and especially after Saturday when he had the knock and they see it, and then I feel the referee should protect him there.

»They had to change at the start of the game because it was so obvious they were looking for him."

Providing a quick update on the team's injuries, he confirmed that both Fernandes and Raphael Varane, who was also a doubt for Wednesday, are expected to be fit for the derby. However, Harry Maguire and Rasmus Hojlund are likely to remain on United's injury list.

United are behind in the race, 15 points away from their city rivals and eight points from a Champions League spot. City have been on a winning streak since December, while Ten Hag's team has struggled against Guardiola's squad.
