Paul Scholes has claimed 'this world needs to f*** right off' after reacting to Brendan Rodgers being dubbed 'a dinosaur' for calling a BBC reporter a 'good girl'.
Rodgers has come under fire after dismissing Jane Lewis' question when she pressed him on Celtic's season following their 3-1 win over Motherwell, before saying the controversial comment that has angered women's charities across the country.
The Scottish Feminist Network labelled him a dinosaur while Campaigners at the For Women Scotland organisation accused the Celtic boss of 'casual sexism' and urged him to apologise for his words to the 53-year-old journalist.
After the outcry over Rodgers' comments, including from presenter Jeff Stelling, Scholes appeared to be frustrated over the saga as he posted a picture of him watching a news clip of the story on Instagram - while seemingly in the bath.
The Man United legend simply wrote: 'This world needs to f*** right off... bye!' alongside a picture of him watching a discussion around the incident on talkSport with the words 'Brendan Rodgers branded a dinosaur' at the bottom.
The story surfaced after Lewis had asked Rodgers to explain himself after he told her that, in terms of the title race, 'the story has already been written about this group, but we will write our own story'.
When she asked him to elaborate, he seemed unhappy with the line of questioning and said: 'No, no, you know exactly what I mean.'
Lewis again pressed Rodgers to explain, but he appeared to wind up the interview and said: 'Done, good girl, well done.'
The furore over Rodgers' words resulted in two major womens' campaigners releasing statement condemning him.
