According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Olympique de Marseille are looking to offload Pape Gueye (24) this January amidst reported interest from Burnley.
Gueye, who has only recently returned from a long-term suspension, will not be retained by Marseille. The Senegalese international has rejected two contract renewal proposals from the French club, and with his contract expiring in the summer of 2024, the hierarchy have decided that now is the right time to cash in, according to Hawkins.
Meanwhile, Foot Mercato report that Burnley have been enquiring incessantly about a move for Gueye, who is currently away on international duty with Senegal ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Premier League side are therefore very interested in the former Le Havre AC midfielder, and for OM, this interest represents an opportunity to make money on a player that they may otherwise lose on a free transfer.
