Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has admitted he joined the club for «nights like these» aftertheir thrilling journey to the Champions League quarter-finals.
Odegaard, 25, joined the Gunners from Real Madrid for just £30million in 2021. The Norwegian was once a teenage prodigy who dreamed of playing for Los Blancos but opted to leave and play regularly at Arsenal instead.
This decision has brought great rewards for both Odegaard and Arsenal. The midfielder now appears to be one of the best in Europe.
Odegaard was exceptional as Arsenal beat Porto on penalties in a dramatic night at the Emirates, reaching the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in 14 years.
Arsenal also sits proudly at the top of the Premier League. Odegaard insists he always believed in Mikel Arteta's vision, even during challenging times at the start, reports the Mirror.
When asked if nights like these convinced him to join Arsenal, he said: «Yeah, definitely. When I came here I believed in the project, in the club, what they were doing, everything around the club, I believed in it — and now we are here doing well. We just have to keep pushing each other and make sure we get a little bit better every day.
