Chelsea have been handed a potential injury boost in pre-season as Reece James has hinted at travelling to the USA to meet up with the rest of the squad.
The full-back has had a tough run of injuries over the last few seasons, with the latest campaign seeing him miss a stretch of games with muscular issues. There had been some hope that a full pre-season may be able to put an end to any concerns, but that took a turn.
The England international was left out of the provisional squad making their way to the USA, claimed to be a precaution due to illness. While in the States, the Blues are set to face League Two Wrexham first up before taking on fellow Premier League sides Brighton and Newcastle and then Borussia Dortmund.
The club have hinted at James' current involvement though as he was left out of a statement from the club involving stating which squad numbers each player would have. The defender wasn't listed alongside the likes ofWesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and Armando Broja, who all miss out through injury.
That's not to say James won't be involved at all through the tour, but it seems increasingly likely that he won't be part of the team to face Wrexham. However, he has hinted at the fact he is travelling to the USA for the pre-season camp and could feature in the games following.
