Newcastle's Chief Executive says the club are hoping to emulate Liverpool's stadium expansion at St James' Park.
Since former owner Mike Ashley sold the club in 2021 to a consortium including Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Magpies have been selling out all their home games.
Those who manage to get their hands on tickets have been able to soak in their side go from relegation candidates to playing in the Champions League under Eddie Howe.
However, the increased demand has left a number of supporters and any other football fans wanting to witness their rise locked out of being able to go.
As a result, the club have launched a feasibility project with CAA Icon — who helped create the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium — to look into expanding their current ground that the club have called home since 1892.
Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT's Sunday Edition about the club's decision to launch the study, Newcastle CEO Darren Eales said: «We've gone public with the stadium feasibility project, the point behind that, and it's interesting Shaun [Custis] you have a view because everyone has an opinion on what can and can't be done in terms of building.
»What we're actually doing is getting world leading experts to look at what the possibilities are. So the whole idea is blank sheet of paper, what is possible in terms of St James' Park.
«If there's a way we can expand it, that's what we'd like to do. We're 52,000 at the moment, we've got a huge demand, way more demand than we have supply, so we'd love to be able to do something perhaps what like Liverpool are doing with Anfield and extend the stadium where it is.»
