Brazilian Vinicius Junior brought forward his return to Madrid after being injured with his national team and landed in the Spanish capital on Saturday to undergo tests to determine the extent of his injury.
Vini had to be substituted after 26 minutes of Thursday's 2-1 defeat to Colombia at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Melendez in Barranquilla, with initial observations indicating a muscle injury.
Vinicius is suffering from an injury to his left leg, the opposite of the muscle tear in the biceps femoris that he suffered on 25 August against Celta Vigo. Madrid had planned the medical tests for Monday, but brought them forward by two days and released a statement giving more details about the Brazilian striker's injury.
"Following tests carried out today on our player Vinicius Jr by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a tear in his left femoral bicep which is affecting the tendon in his hamstring. His recovery will be monitored," Real Madrid confirmed in a statement on its official website.
Madrid's infirmary has been filled with Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, long-term absentees with knee injuries, plus muscular problems for Kepa Arrizabalaga, Arda Guler and Dani Ceballos, a fractured toe for Aurelien Tchouameni, a dislocated shoulder for Jude Bellingham and new problems for Camavinga and Vinícius that punish Carlo Ancelotti's outlook for their upcoming fixtures.
