Florent Ghisolfi is the architect of OGC Nice’s success this season, and according to The Athletic, he is the subject of interest from Liverpool, who are looking to fill their sporting director role.
Since joining Nice from RC Lens in October 2022, Ghisolfi has steered the project at Nice back in the right direction. Most notably, he is responsible for the arrival of Francesco Farioli as manager, who has received great plaudits for the job he has done, taking Les Aiglons to third in Ligue 1.
Liverpool are “impressed” with Ghisolfi’s work since taking the helm at Nice and are considering bringing the Frenchman to Merseyside, according to The Athletic. Jorg Schmadtke had occupied the role until the end of his mandate in January; a replacement is expected at the end of the season, in what will be a summer of change at Anfield, with Jürgen Klopp also set to depart.
FSG’s preference is to bring former sporting director Michael Edwards back to the club, however, he is unlikely to return, having left Liverpool back in 2022. Alongside Ghisolfi, there is also an interest in Frederic Massara.
