According to La Provence, Pablo Longoria’s position as the President of Marseille is weakening following the sacking of Gennaro Gattuso’s torrid time in charge of the Ligue 1 club.
The Marseille president’s position at the Stade Vélodrome has been in a precarious position within the last twelve months. Longoria has been contested by fans and has already seen two managers dismissed under his reign this season. The first of which was the fiasco which involved Marcelino leaving after just 7 games in charge.
Longoria will have to prove his worth to the McCourt family who own the Ligue 1 club after a difficult start to the season. The Spaniard’s stocks at the club have taken a hit following OM’s latest defeat to Brest. All eyes will be on the OM president as Les Olympiens look to appoint their fourth coach of the season.
Marseille’s next appointment could be critical to his future, according to La Provence. All signs point towards Jean-Louis Gasset, who recently departed Côte d’Ivoire, taking the job until the end of the season. It remains to be seen what reaction this appointment receives from the owners of the club.
