Former Premier League defender Pascal Chimbonda has apologised after his Skelmersdale United side were thrashed 10-1 by Bury FC.
The Shakers ensured that they kept pace with current North West Counties Premier Division leaders Wythenshawe Town. Bury have two games in hand over their Manchester rivals as they sit a point behind, after picking up a fourth win in their last six.
Jacob Holland-Wilkinson was the pick of the goalscorers with a hat-trick as Andy Briggs, Connor Comber, Andy Scarisbrick, Dec Daniels, Arthur Lomax Jones, Benito Low and Sam Burns were on the scoresheet. The win marked the biggest Bury win since the 8-0 thrashing of Tranmere Rovers in January 1980.

For the West Lancashire side, they remain rooted to the bottom of the table just 17 points from 32 matches. Chimbonda made 149 Premier League appearances for the likes of Wigan Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland was tasked with steering the ninth-tier club in October away from a second successive relegation.
After the damaging defeat, he apologised on social media tweeting: "As @Skemutdofficial manager I want to apologies to all our fans who made the trip down to @buryfcofficial today to see us, unfortunately it wasn’t the best performance from us, we can only promise to do better Tuesday night.
"Thank you again for all your loyal support #skembonda."
