Paul Merson for the second week in a row has exclaimed that he would be shocked if Tottenham beat their Premier League opponents.
Ange Postecoglou's side face Wolves on Saturday off the back of their first league defeat of the season, with a 4-1 loss to Chelsea on Monday.
Merson earlier this week hit back at 'clueless critics' who mocked him for suggesting Chelsea would beat Spurs on Mauricio Pochettino's return to the club.
The former Arsenal and England midfielder has now explained why he feels that Wolves will hand Tottenham their second straight defeat - predicting a 2-1 victory for Gary O'Neil's side.
He told Sportskeeda: 'I’ll be shocked if Tottenham, with their injuries and suspensions, beat Wolves on Saturday. I was looking at Spurs’ situation and they have some bad injuries.
‘Micky van de Ven is out and they’ve got Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie who are set to miss a couple of weeks due to suspension. James Maddison is going to be out too and Richarlison is set to undergo surgery.
‘Ange Postecoglou will be fielding a makeshift backline and they are not going to be the same side that got off to a flying start to the season due to their injuries.'
Van de Ven went off against Chelsea clutching his hamstring, with the Dutchman expected to face an extended spell on the sidelines - though he reportedly won't need surgery.
Maddison also limped off against Chelsea, while Richarlison has undergone surgery on a pelvic injury.
Despite Spurs' superb form heading into the clash against Chelsea, Merson — a fan of the Stamford Bridge club — admitted a Tottenham victory would 'shock' him.
'I'm very confident for Chelsea on Monday night,' Merson said on Sky Sports. 'I'll be shocked if they lose.'
