Paul Tierney will not referee game at weekend as Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool row continues
Paul Tierney has not been selected to referee a Premier League match next weekend as the row over Liverpool's win at Nottingham Forest continues.
Tierney has been heavily criticised by sections of the game - including a number of former officials and prominent Forest-supporting television pundits - for incorrectly restarting play with a drop ball for Reds goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher rather than give the Tricky Trees possession in an attacking area after the game had been stopped for a head injury to Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate.
In the two minutes following the incident, Forest regained possession twice before a failure to defend properly allowed substitute Darwin Nunez to head home and earn Liverpool a narrow 1-0 victory.

Tierney, who had also missed a high boot offence by Forest skipper Ryan Yates during the passage of play in which Konate was injured, has not been chosen to referee in the next round of games and will instead be the video assistant referee (VAR) for Arsenal's home match against Brentford on Saturday evening.
Sources close to Professional Game Match Officials Ltd insist Tierney has not been dropped, with the Wigan-based official one of a group of officials who regularly alternate between being refereeing and being on VAR duty.
Tierney sent off Forest's first-team coach Steven Reid after he came on to the pitch at the end of the game to protest, while Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis was also on the field before unsuccessfully seeking a conversation with the referee.
