The closure of a city centre bar has been branded as a "shame" by people across the city.
Jimmy's, which can be found at the top end of Bold Streetopposite St Luke's Bombed Out Church, will close its doors on Saturday, September 30. In a public announcement posted on Facebook and Twitter, a spokesperson for the bar, said: "It is with our deepest regret to say that despite our best efforts, we must announce the imminent closure of Jimmy’s Liverpool. Our last day of trading will be next weekend on Saturday 30th September."

The statement said since Covid, it has been an "uphill battle" for the venue and that directors and staff "have done everything possible" to "keep things going". It added: "We would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported Jimmy’s in Liverpool and been a part of the journey.
"It would be great to give Jimmy’s Liverpool the send off it deserves so if you’re in the area please pop in for a pint and a farewell, see a gig, grab a burger and enjoy it one final time."
People have now called the closure of the "great little venue" a "shame," with some concerned about the "alarming rate" at which some venues in Liverpool are closing.
On Facebook, Jill Doyle said: "I'm gutted it's closing. I've spent many great times there over the past years, eating, drinking and seeing fantastic bands play there. Great friendly staff too."
David Bayliss called the decision "very sad," adding: "They did a great open mic night there."
One reader, commenting on the ECHO site, said: "Liverpool has a rich musical heritage, so we need these music venues to stay open."
