Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola couldn't help but fire a sarcastic dig at Manchester United's Facundo Pellistri's recent claim.
The red and blue sides of Manchester go head-to-head at Old Trafford on Sunday as the clubs battle for derby bragging rights for the first time this season.
As expected with any derby in football, there's been plenty of fighting talk from both sides ahead of the clash.
Manchester United youngster Pellistri got involved this week when explaining the importance of the rivalry on Uruguayan radio station Carve Deportiva.
“Manchester is all about United,” Pellistri said. “You don’t see City shirts or flags.
“Sometimes, with my girlfriend, we go out and say let’s try to find one and we don’t see them.”
Now, though, Man City boss Guardiola himself has debunked the Uruguayan's theory, making a sarcastic joke about it when he was asked about the claim.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Manchester derby, he said: “I will speak with the Puma department, and ask, 'What happened? Why we don't have shirts [in Manchester]?’
«It’s ok,» he shrugged. «If this guy and his girlfriend believe that, it’s fine…»
Man City will be hoping to build on their win over Brighton in the Premier League last weekend off the back of two losses before the international break.
Meanwhile, Man United can make it three wins in the league in a row. However, Erik ten Hag admitted on Friday that he may have to make a late decision on the inclusion of midfielder Casemiro.
