Pep Guardiola gives sarcastic reply after Kylian Mbappe 'transfer agreed' amid Arsenal comments

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola couldn't resist a sarcastic response when asked about the rumours linking his side with Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe, who won the 2022 World Cup with France, is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The forward has already informed the Ligue 1 club that he does not want to extend his current contract.

Whilst PSG have not officially announced the departure of their star player, there are whispers that Mbappe has an agreement in place with Real Madrid and the announcement could be made in the coming months. It was suggested that City Football Group had discussions with Mbappe's team which brought up the topic at Guardiola's recent press conference.

However, the former Barcelona manager didn't reveal much when asked about Mbappe's talents. Before City's match against Brentford, Guardiola joked: «I think he's quite good, I think he has a future.»

It is claimed that Mbappe is willing to reduce his salary and agree to join Real ahead of next season on a five-year deal. He could receive an enormous £85million sign-on fee to move to the Bernabeu while his annual salary could drop by as much as £10m.

Mikel Arteta has already thrown Arsenal's hat into the ring to sign Mbappe. Last week, the 41-year-old commented: «When there is a player of that calibre we always have to be in the conversation. But as you said it looks in a different way. Why not? If we want to be the best team, we are going to need the best talent and the best players, that is for sure.
