Manchester City are facing a slight injury crisis as four key stars missed out on their squad to face Everton on Wednesday evening. City have struggled to get their campaign off the ground early on, following on from the heights of their treble-winning season last time out.
Ten wins, four draws and three defeats from their opening 17 games has them sitting fifth in the table before they made the trip to Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup. They took on South American champions Fluminense, walking out 4-0 winners and being crowned Champions of the World.
«The more you win, they want you to fail more than ever,» Pep Guardiola told the press after a huge victory. «I've felt that since day one in Barcelona, that people are waiting. The people say 'how good they play, the methodology, how genius it is' but it's because I win.
»They don't understand anything about what we do but they give credit just because we win. You have to look further than that. In the moment you don't win there are going to be doubts. That is OK. Doubt (us) again. We'll see what happens."
There have been plenty of doubts continuing over City in the early weeks as Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa take the initiative in the Premier League. Those teams will feel even more confident of their chances as the current champions are dealing with a few injury worries.
