Rashford suffering from Norovirus ahead of Liverpool showdown
Manchester United travel to the home of bitter rivals Liverpool this weekend desperate to avoid another humiliation but with all the signs pointing to a tough afternoon at Anfield.
United captain Bruno Fernandes faced particular criticism after March's Anfield annihilation and will miss Sunday's match after collecting a fifth booking of the season for dissent.
Fernandes joins a long list of absentees, including injured players Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia.
Erik ten Hag did not expect another absentee for Sunday's showdown but Marcus Rashford is suffering from Norovirus, also known as the winter vomiting bug, and his availability is uncertain.
Norovirus causes illness with vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach upset. Nonetheless, the 26-year-old will be looking to recover to help his team at Anfield.
The Red Devils have lost 12 of their 24 games in all competitions in the current campaign and this week were dumped out of the Champions League at the group stage.
