Only managing three goals in his debut season for the club as he found himself in and out of the team with injury disrupting his campaign, the 26-year-old started this term in Ange Postecoglou's Spurs XI before dropping down to the bench for a run of three games. Contributing with two goals and three assists but still unable to recapture the form he displayed for Everton, it was decided that the player would finally go under the knife on Thursday, November 9 to correct a long-standing issue.
Having appeared off the substitutes' bench in the games against Man City and West Ham, Richarlison was named in the starting XI at home to Newcastle United on Sunday and duly repaid his head coach with two goals. Looking more like his old self and certainly much freer in terms of his movement, the attacker has revealed that the surgery has worked as he is now «training without pain» and «much better than before».
“I’m much better than before," he said in an interview with ESPN Brasil. «Now I feel confident, I feel 100 per cent. I think this surgery helped me a lot to recover in training. Now I’m training without pain, and this is helping me a lot. It’s evolving every day now and thinking about the next game.»
