Liverpool may have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of Xabi Alonso as their next manager.
Alonso is being heavily linked with taking the manager's job at Anfield at the end of the season. The Spaniard is currently looking to guide Bayer Leverkusen to what would be their first-ever Bundesliga title, beating Bayern Munich in the process.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Bayern Munich also want to hire Alonso as their next manager when Thomas Tuchel departs at the end of the season. Some reports in Germany have even gone so far as to say that Bayern are the favourites to beat Liverpool to appointing Alonso this summer.

The article claims that Bayern chief Max Eberl has already made contact with De Zerbi over possibly becoming the club's next manager. It has been stated, though, that De Zerbi is viewed as an alternative option
