Arsenal star Bukayo Saka trained with his teammates ahead of Wednesday's clash with Luton Town. The forward was taken off as a second-half substitute during the 0-0 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.
Saka limped off the field at the Etihad Stadium with over 20 minutes to go as Mikel Arteta was dealt a minor injury scare for the Premier League run-in. The 22-year-old was accompanied by a physio as he left the pitch, sparking worries of a fitness concern after he was also withdrawn from England's squad over the international break.
Arteta was positive about the chances of Saka being involved against the Hatters on Wednesday though. «He’s fine,» he told reporters on Tuesday at the Sobha Realty Training Complex.
«We haven’t trained, just recovered. We have a short, light session today to prepare the game and we will see if he’s in the best condition to start or not.»
In a major boost Saka has now been seen along with the rest of the squadbarring Jurrien Timber — «He’s doing very well. He’s back training. He’s not far off, the thing is that last step, he hasn’t played any minutes.» The club held an open training session before the game with Saka involved as hoped.
He could be seen doing some light jogging and warm-up exercises during a low-key start to the session. Takehiro Tomiyasu was also present having made his first appearance for Arsenal in 2024 when called on as a late substitute against City.
