Latest Arsenal news ahead of Manchester United clash with Alexis Sanchez already revealing which of his former teams he will be supporting
Alexis Sanchez will mostly be remembered for his superb four years at Arsenal and certainly less so for his bleak spell at Manchester United. The Chile international scored 80 goals in 166 appearances for the Gunners before he moved to Old Trafford in 2018 going on to manage just five goals from 45 games played.
After just 18 months in Manchester, Sanchez moved to Inter Milan, first on loan, before going onto play for Marseille. Sanchez is now back at San Siro with the Italian giants but his Arsenal roots are still clear as day which makes it easy to work out who he will be supporting when his two former clubs collide this afternoon.
"You remembered me. I will never forget you too," Sanchez wrote in response to the Instagram post. "You will always be in my heart. You were my first family in England. And everyone took good care of me especially the fans. All the best Gunners."
Just in case his preference between the two wasn't already clear, the 34-year-old has admitted in recent years he regretted the transfer to Man United. "Sometimes there are things that you don't realise until you get there, and I remember the first training session I had, I realised a lot of things," Sanchez said regarding his move from Arsenal to United.
"After the session I got home and I told my family and my agent 'can you not rip up the contract to go back to Arsenal?'. They laughed, I told them there's something that doesn't sit right, it doesn't seem good.
"But I already signed, I was already there. After the first few months I carried on having the same feeling, we weren't united as a team in that moment."
