Adam Webster is expecting some extra needle when Brighton face Chelsea on Wedesday night — but says the sky’s the limit for the Seagulls.
Roberto De Zerbi’s men go to Stamford Bridge in the Carabao Cup flying high after five wins from six in the Premier League.
Brighton are already 10 points ahead of a Chelsea side full of familiar faces.
They have sold Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella and Robert Sanchez to Chelsea recently, and Levi Colwill has returned to the Blues after a loan spell at the Amex.
Webster said: ‘Maybe it adds a little bit more spice to it! We are going to try to play our stuff and get through. We want to go as far as we can in every competition and we have got a strong squad.
'It’s another chance to show the manager what we’re about. Everyone is fighting for their place.’
Asked whether a top-four finish was possible this season for Brighton, who are third in the Premier League behind Manchester City and Liverpool, Webster said: ‘The sky is the limit for us. There is so much potential, it’s exciting.
‘We’ve got a busy schedule and have to take every game as it comes, but the potential in the squad, the blend of experience and youth, is brilliant.
‘The more experienced lads can help the younger lads and vice versa. It’s a real good group.’
