Sandro Tonali endears himself to Newcastle fans even more as new signing pictured in Wetherspoons

He may eat spaghetti and drink Moretti but it appears Sandro Tonali is embracing the Newcastle culture already.

Tonali made a big impact during his Magpies debut, hitting the ground running with a goal just six minutes into his debut.

The Italian midfielder, who joined for £52million from AC Milan this summer, was a star of the show in the 5-1 demolition of Aston Villa on the opening weekend.

The new chant Newcastle fans had made up for him, that involves eating spaghetti, drinking Moretti and not liking Sunderland, rang out around St James' Park all game.

Now supporters love the midfielder even more after he booked a table at a Wetherspoons.

A picture of Tonali with a fan was posted on social media, along with the booking form for his table at the budget national chain.

One fan wrote: «What’s his table number? I’ll order him a drink through the app. Moretti?»

Another added: «And people say Tonali doesn’t look happy.»

A third said: «Man of the people.»

Tonali himself appears to be enjoying life at St James' Park so far, despite suggestions that he did not want to move to the north east.

“It was wonderful, the first real game,” Tonali told Sky Sport Italia.

“I let myself go, we really enjoyed ourselves, especially as the game went so well, just as we had prepared it. It was impossible not to enjoy today.”

When asked if it was a Premier League debut he'd dream of, he replied: “Yes, but it is one thing to dream and another to experience it. Reality is different. I am happy with how it went, now I will go home, relax and rest, then I might realise what happened.”
