Sheffield United forward Iliman Ndiaye (23) is edging closer to a move back to his boyhood club, Olympique de Marseille. According to reports tonight from Foot Mercato and Fabrizio Romano, Les Phocéens are in advanced talks with the Senegal international. The French outlet go as far as saying that an agreement in principle over a five-year deal has been reached between the Sheffield United player and the Ligue 1 club. Ndiaye was a vital part of the Blades’ second place finish in the Championship, logging 14 goals and 11 assists in 46 Championship games.
Ndiaye is enthusiastic at the idea of joining the Marcelino-led Marseille side. He is a big fan of the club – when he was 12, Ndiaye spent a year at the Marseille academy and has fond memories of his time with Les Phocéens. In an interview with So Foot, Ndiaye had explained that he used to watch every single Marseille game. All that remains now for the deal to be complete is an agreement between Marseille and the newly-promoted Premier League side. Ndiaye is entering the final year of his contract with Sheffield United.
