Sofyan Amrabat has been told that his support as a pivot alongside Casemiro will help his Brazilian teammate rediscover his best form for Manchester United.
Casemiro has found the net four times this season, two of which came against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but the midfielder has not been as effective at cutting out attacks as he was last season although had a good showing against Crystal Palace in the League Cup.
The 31-year-old was one of United’s best players last season but has often fallen below his high standards in the opening eight games of this term. Amrabat, meanwhile, made his full debut in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace - albeit from left-back.

He impressed onlookers with his marauding play that saw him cover all areas of the pitch while helping to keep a clean sheet. The Moroccan worked under Erik ten Hag at FC Utrecht between 2015 and 2017 and was approached by his former boss in January after a stellar World Cup, only for Fiorentina to say no.
Now he is finally at Old Trafford, Amrabat will likely be tasked with partnering with Casemiro to form a shield in front of the defence. It’s a role Mikael Silvestre says Casemiro will inevitably benefit from.
