The vehicle of Spanish soccer playerIago Falque was shot at in the Colombian city of Cali in what was a terrifying incident.

The player was not at the scene at the time of the shooting, which caused no casualties, as reported Saturday by America de Cali, the club where he plays.

The club issued a statement saying that the attack, during which Falque's van was shot at several times, occurred on Friday night in the vicinity of the Cascajal sports center.

«We clarify that the player was not present at the time of the events,» America de Cali explained in a statement.

«The authorities are at the forefront collecting all the evidence to clarify the facts and be able to issue an official version to the public.»

In a video posted on social media, a man who is apparently the one who was driving Falque's vehicle, shows at least three bullet impacts on the body of the vehicle and explains that he was on his way to put gas when the attack occurred.

«Good thing I wasn't going with Iago, I was going to tank up and they shot at me,» the man is heard saying, who claims he does not know if it was an attempted robbery.

Iago Falque, 33, arrived at America de Cali in 2022 and the team are one of the biggest clubs in Colombia.

Beforehand, Falque spent almost his entire career in Italy's Serie A.
